A new grant for up to $20,000 for emergency home repairs is being offered to 50 Brooklyn owners of homes, condos, and coops by Neighborhood Housing Services of East Flatbush and by the Affordable Housing Corporation. There is a preference (but not a requirement) for residents in Sandy-hit areas. Homeowners whose incomes exceed the limits should also apply anyway; there will be other grants. Even homeowners who are in Build It Back are urged to apply, since BIB will not necessarily pay for all repairs a home needs, especially if they pre-dated Sandy and were not caused by the storm.

Awardees will be selected according to a lottery system. Income limits apply. The deadline to mail or drop off the simple application at one of our offices is November 13, 2015.
